Q&A

Can I tour the facility?

Yes! We offer tours of our facility every day of the week after 11:00am, no appointment needed.

What are the hours for check-In and check-out?

We’re open Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays 7:00am to 1:00pm
You can pick up or drop off anytime during these hours.
Check out is at noon. If you need to pick up your pet anytime after the check out time an extra night stay will be added to your final bill.

Can I bring my dog’s choke or pinch collar?

For safety reasons we will remove the choke or pinch collar and we will give it back to you. We require all our guests to wear an easy release collar. If you don’t have one or you forget your collar at home you can purchase one for $2

Can my dogs stay together? (Not applicable to cats)

Yes, guests from the same family can stay together in the same room.  The second guest sharing the room has a discounted rate.

I noticed the nightly rate includes playtime however what if my dog is not a good fit to play with other dogs or intact?

No problem! Many guests, like many people, are just not comfortable in a crowd. That is why we have our "Private play" and “Semi private play” option. A pet concierge will be assigned to have fun with your pet one on one.  Additional fee for this service is $10 per pet $14 for two pets of the same family.

My pet takes medication. Are you able to give it to them?

Yes, we will gladly administer up to five medications to your pet while they are in our care. Service fee is $1 per dose. We take the responsibility of medicating your friend very seriously. Please do not pack the medication along with your pet’s food.  We do not administer injections.

Why is my dog so tired after staying at Green Valley Pets?

Some guests may be tired or even a little sore for a day or two after a play date or lodging with us. This is because most of them play hard and get a lot of exercise while they are here. Even though they have rest areas available to them in each of our playrooms, most of them choose to play for a good portion of the day, which is more than they are used to at home.

Why is my dog so dirty after staying at Green Valley Pets?

When you visit our facility you will immediately notice we are a country setting. Our 5,000 sq ft playground has trees, planters, grass, soil, water bars, small hills, kiddie pools, and a big trampoline. Our playground is lots of fun for our guests. We highly suggest booking a bath on departure day. You will enjoy a clean pet just as much as your pet enjoyed playing outdoors.

Why is my dog thirsty after play date?

Your dog has access to water 24/7. All dogs have an individual bowl of water in their bedroom if they’re lodging with us. But as with being tired, the increase in activity may also increase your dog’s water intake. Don’t be alarmed if they want to drink more water than usual when they get home (though you should encourage them to drink slowly and small amounts at a time to prevent vomiting). Pets will frequently become very thirsty from the excitement and stress of seeing their family and loved ones again when they’re picked up. It’s natural and you should expect your pet to be a bit dehydrated from all the excitement once you get home.

Can my dog get hurt playing?

Just like children who play on playgrounds in daycare or at school can get hurt from time to time, dogs playing with each other on the playgrounds can get hurt too. Dogs play with their mouths and paws and like to wrestle around on the ground with each other. Because our staff is always supervising play injuries are rare. If injuries do occur, you (not Green Valley Pets) are responsible for any medical expenses for your dog, as you would be for a child. You need to be sure that you are comfortable with this before allowing your dog to play with other guests during their stay with us. If you are not, Private play is always an option. Most owners find that the benefits of allowing their dog to play offset the minimal risks.

Do I need to bring my dog’s food if they are boarding?

Yes! All guests do better staying on their regular diet from home and have less trouble with upset stomachs from switching foods.  Remember to pre-portion your pet’s food in resalable or paper baggies. This ensures that we have plenty of food for your dog’s stay. We also have a refrigerator and microwave to prepare special diets. If your pet is boarding with us for five days or more, you may want to consider increasing the amount of food your dog eats in each portion, due to their increased activity level.

What else can I bring?

We provide cots, mats, blankets, water and food bowls for all of our guests. Toys are permitted, but we ask that you limit to only one clearly marked toy. We do our best to return all toys, but we are not responsible if a toy is lost or destroyed. You can also feel free to bring treats.

What if my pet becomes ill or requires medical attention during their stay?

In the event that your pet requires medical attention, we will refer to your contact list and make every attempt to reach you or your designated emergency contact. If we are unable to contact you or your emergency contact and we feel your dog needs medical attention, we will transport your pet to their regular veterinarian, if close by, to ensure continuity of care. If your veterinarian is not near our facility, we will go to one of the local veterinarians that we know. If we believe that the situation is urgent or if your dog needs care after regular hours, we will take your pet to the closest veterinary emergency clinic.

My pet lost weight during their boarding visit, is this normal?

It is worth noting here that weight loss is a very common issue with boarding kennels and Pet Resorts. It is natural for a pet to lose between 5 to 10 pounds while away from home on vacation (boarding). Most of the weight loss is due to excitement of being with other guests and the daily exercise they receive playing with new friends in our 5,000 sq ft playground. It is very busy and active here at Green Valley Pets. Dogs are barking (karaoke with our radio), jumping around and generally burning off energy. It’s not like at home, where they sleep when you’re away. Not a lot of sleeping happens here. Our guest are in constant activity which is not the norm to their more sedentary lifestyle at home. Therefore they burn a lot more calories during their visit. Please also remember that your dog could put weight on!

What if my pet dies?

In the unfortunate event that your pet passes away during its stay with us; we will do our best to contact you to discuss your needs. If you have an aging pet you may wish to discuss this with us at check-in. If we cannot contact you, we are unable to keep your pet in our facility until your return. Therefore we will transport your pet (with dignity) to the nearest veterinary facility able to cremate your beloved friend.
